Neoseiulus californicus

Neoseiulus californicus, also known in older literature as Amblyseius californicus, is a predatory mite used for biological control of spider mites. It is often used preventatively or where low-level spider mite pressure is expected.

Targets

  • Two-spotted spider mite
  • Other spider mite species

Strengths

  • More tolerant of low prey levels than Phytoseiulus persimilis
  • Useful in preventative programmes
  • Can persist where spider mite numbers are low
  • Performs across a wider range of conditions than some specialist predators

Best Used In

  • Strawberries
  • Ornamentals
  • Soft fruit
  • Protected crops
